EBSCON 2025 "Creative Destruction"

EBSCON 5.0: How new ideas come into the world

EBSCON 5.0, the leading trade fair for the European semiconductor and electronics industry, will take place on 8 October 2025 at Messe Congress Graz. This year’s event will be dominated by the theme of “creative destruction”. Which “old technologies” will be replaced, and how can we recognise the “new” on the horizon?

(Villach/Graz, 18 July 2025) “This year, we want to use a tried-and-tested concept – ‘creative destruction‘ according to Joseph Schumpeter – to look for future developments and technologies and examine their impact on the present,” says Cluster Managing Director Robert Gfrerer, explaining the focus of EBSCON 2025. The fifth edition of the leading trade fair for the European semiconductor and electronics industry will present and discuss groundbreaking innovations, their prerequisites, implementation possibilities and economic and social impacts, for example in the field of “shared charging” in battery technology.

The new European Network of Chips Competence Centres (ENCCC), comprising 27 European chip competence centres, will also be presented to the European semiconductor community in Graz with its platform and networking project aCCCess. The active role of the Austrian centre AT-C³ Austrian Chips Competence Center will also be presented in detail. The focus will be on the thematic interlinking of the new European centres and the concrete support they offer to SMEs and start-ups – and the electronics and chip developments that can be launched as a result.

New expanded overall framework for EBSCON

This year’s EBSCON is part of a series of events organised by the SILICON ALPS Cluster: On 6 and 7 October (Mon/Tues), Graz will host “Hack2BRIDGE_Austria”, a hackathon at Unicorn, the start-up centre at Graz University (with an award ceremony during EBSCON the following day). On Wednesday, 8 October, EBSCON 5.0 will take place at the Messe Congress Graz with representatives of the European project aCCCess. At the same time, the “Incoming Delegation Days” will be held in Styria on 9 and 10 October with a delegation from Sweden and others planned. The first Incoming Delegation Days will conclude with a networking dinner in Villach, before the delegations visit companies in Carinthia on the final day. The ESBS-Austria autumn conference will also take place in Graz on 9 October.

Around 350 decision-makers from the European semiconductor and electronics industry are expected to attend EBSCON 2025 on 8 October at Messe Congress Graz (starting at 10 a.m., registration from 9 a.m.). This year’s programme includes a keynote speech by Henriette Frädrich, who will take a holistic look at the current changes, and a keynote speech by industry experts.
